It's Easy Being Green...

Whenever people hear about Green DJing, they always ask the same question, "What in the world makes you a green DJ?" Let's be honest, nowadays everyone wants to go green, and for good reason. Our atmosphere sure isnt going to fix itself, so we all have to do our part to make a difference. Rather than just hoping that one day we could make a difference, I made a commitment to be Californias first "Green DJ".

This way I can still pursue my passion and love for music, while also positively impacting the eco system. As President Barack said, "Today we begin in earnest the work of making sure that the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today."

Unlike alot of companies who claim to be green, I don't greenwash, I go the extra mile to ensure that you receive a truly green experience.

  • 100% Paperless Billing System

Talk about simplifying the booking process!! We now took all the work that went into planning your event and made it 100 times easier with our new online portal. Now you are able to login to your own password protected area where you can plan all the details for your events. We have online forms and planners to simplify your preparation and we eliminate much of the paper printing that way. You can send your other vendors to your personal section of the whoisref.com website and they can all see what you want to have done.

  • Solar Powered Equipment

Rather than depleting current power reserves, we turned to utilizing renewable energy sources to power our equipment. This means that now we can power our DJ equipment and lights all on solar power, whenever, where ever!!! Whats cooler than that?? While your getting your groove on, we're getting our green on:)

  • Carbon Credits

Most people dont realize that in order to get to and from an event requires alot of driving. All this driving creates carbon emissions, and in turn causes lots of pollution in the environment. By purchasing carbon credits from Terrapass we are able to buy credits that go directly to programs that offset our amount of pollution.

  • MP3's

We use a digital DJ system which reduces plastic waste. We play mp3's. And we encourage digital downloading (or else buying vintage vinyl or used CD's).

  • DJ System

Our sound system uses amplified speakers instead of an amp and speaker system. That means we need less power to run at the same volumes.

    LED Lights

We use LED lighting. Compared to traditional halogen lights, LED lights compare in brightness in side by side visual comparisons, but use a fraction of the electricity and last years longer. Most DJ lighting effects are available in LED format, so unless you want a laser light show, we'll be saving electricity.

  • Plant A Tree For Every Booking

We also plant a tree sapling for every booking we recieve. Not only are you getting service that is eco friendly, but you are also getting a gift that will keep giving for some time.

Making Your Next Party Green Tips #120-125
Christie Matheson: thenest.com

120. Evites are a must Skip the pretty paper cards and save a tree or two. We know you love wowing your friends with your invitation creations, but you'll amaze them enough when they arrive, we promise! Plus, the Evite has a great way for you to still be clever with your post. We love uploading funny pictures and choosing pretty designs that even the pickiest guest will love. And be sure to get creative with the reply categories.

121. Use the stuff you've got You know those dishes, glasses, and place settings you put on your registry but still haven't taken out of the cabinet? Now is the time to break them out. You'll have to do a little extra cleanup at the end of the night, but isn't reversing global warming worth an extra few minutes?

123. Personalize cups If you insist on using disposable glassware, buy the kind made from recycled or sustainable materials (look for stuff manufactured from corn resin or sugar-cane stalk, or items labeled "biodegradable" or "100 percent recycled content"). And prevent the cup-mistaken-identity syndrome (you know, when someone takes a cup and places it next to an identical one, and then both people have to get new cups) by taking a Sharpie and marking each cup with a personalized monogram.

124. Light it up Cut down on electricity and create a romantic (and, let's face it, flattering) glow by placing lit candles everywhere. Use soy or beeswax candles, which, unlike petroleum-based paraffin candles, won't emit toxic, sooty fumes.

125. Be thrifty When looking for hosting odds and ends that will add a finishing touch to your decor -- like salad servers and place mats -- check out flea markets and thrift shops. As long as you wash them in incredibly hot water, you are actually getting something amazingly unique and doing your part to create less trash. After all, if you didn't buy it, it might have been thrown out.
